What does learning look like at Penrhos Avenue?

At Penrhos Ave PRU, KS4 learning focuses on helping young people re-engage with education, build confidence and prepare for life beyond school. Our curriculum combines the Curriculum for Wales, opportunities to pursue GCSE qualifications, and the King’s Trust Achieve Programme to ensure each learner follows a meaningful and personalised pathway.

Curriculum for Wales & GCSE Pathways Learners study a broad curriculum aligned to the Curriculum for Wales, developing the Four Purposes while working towards recognised accreditation. Pupils are supported to pursue GCSEs, Entry Level qualifications and other tailored accreditation depending on their needs, strengths and future goals. Small classes and adaptive teaching ensure learners make progress at a pace that suits them.

King’s Trust Achieve Programme

KS4 pupils also take part in the King’s Trust Achieve Programme, which builds confidence, teamwork, communication and practical life skills. The programme includes digital skills, enterprise projects,
personal finance and real -life problem-solving activities, helping learners gain recognised units and boost readiness for further education, training or employment.
